Unfortunately, your BREATH cannot transform or change difficult people, but it can change the way you feel about it.
If we can’t change our families, work, environment, we have to be able to change ourselves or continue to suffer.
By practicing conscious breathing and leverage the power of our breath, we can reverse the negative responses that dampen our holiday spirit. Better breathing can elicit a relaxed response to the difficult people and situations we can encounter during the holidays. By breathing deeply we can reduce physical tension, promote mindfulness, and help us function in a more rested and peaceful state — all useful in decreasing the impact of holiday stress.
Your holiday survival guide should include more than the spiked egg-nog, be sure to set a reminder to take a few minutes to slow down, pause and breathe.
It sounds so simple if your not a believer yet?
Do a little experiment and take your 2 most stressful days and try one day your way and the other day with 2 to 3, 5-minute breathing breaks. First thing when you wake up, or before walking into a stressful event or family dynamic – spend 5 minutes take 5-second breaths into your belly and then a 5 second exhale and repeat for a few minutes.
It’s not about making your situation better,
it’s about being a better you no matter the situation
Breathwork is a proven pathway where you can choose peace over worry, stress, and being triggered by old dynamics and drama. It is the way to take your power back in the moments you feel most likely to lose your sh*t. The only catch is you have to choose peace, and choose to breathe even when… sometimes we ourselves are addicted to the drama, adrenalin and satisfying our egos in the fight of being right.
If that is the case… choosing peace and your breath will be a revolutionary act to end the habit of chaos and stress will take a little practice, but one that will up-level you and your life just in time for the new year, and your best year yet.
The best time to breathe deeply…
Is when you don’t want to!
